From Manual Handling to Smart Automation: How a Traditional Manufacturing Company Improved Its Workflow

Challenge

Like many other companies, the customer had repetitive processes with significant potential for efficient automation. However, they did not know how to initiate this improvement journey.

Assignment

By scanning available software on the market and analyzing, evaluating, and discussing which tools would best fit the customer’s existing software environment, the path forward became clear. A service provider was procured to handle implementation and knowledge transfer. The first processes selected for automation were General Ledger postings and transport bookings—both complex processes that, once automated, saved a significant amount of time.

Result

Two automated processes using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) delivered clear time savings and improved quality, freeing up time for value-adding activities. Knowledge has been successfully transferred to the customer, who now has an internal Center of Excellence and an organization in place for governance and management.
